Germano Serafini was born in Rome in 1975. He lives and works in Rome.
Serafini’s primary medium is photography which he uses in a way that goes beyond the representational function of the machine itself and at the same time generates a formal aesthetic language that carries concepts, ideas and visions. The main protagonist of his shots is nature in its totality, which he understands as an inspiring example to follow. His artistic research delves into the purity of the unconditioned natural order and centers itself on the dividing line between the visible and invisible.
Serafini mainly works with film photography but also other formats. When it comes to black and white photography he uses camera oscura.
He also uses the photographic matrix as a base for his Land Art, installation, and performance pieces.
His works are found in museum collections such as: Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive in Spoleto, Museo Provinciale MAM of Cosenza, MAAM of Rome and the Casa degli Artisti in Furlo (PU).
From 2014 to 2020, alongside a group of Roman artists, he founded and managed SPAZIO Y, an experimental exhibition space in the Quadraro area of Rome.
In 2019 he began a collaboration with the artist Marco Victor Romano, giving life to the Romano|Serafini duo.
Serafini has also participated in various residencies including BridgeArt in Noto, BocsArt in Cosenza and NKD (Nordic Artists’ Centre Dale) in Norway.
