Giuseppe Stampone was born in Cluses (France) in 1974. He lives in Rome and Brussels.
Stampone’s artistic production ranges from multimedia installations to drawings made with Bic pen, a technique common to several of his projects. In a time of rising public vigilance, his art is unabashedly a potent form of political protest. He continuously endeavors to introduce an alternative social-political agenda through his art works and community-based interventions. His approach is nuanced and methodical, inviting audiences to meditate on basic issues such as immigration, water and war, even as they find themselves having to endure the natural and manmade disasters and conflicts that seem to abound today. After the studies he founded the network Solstizio (www.solstizio.org) co-financed by the European Union and developed in different Countries of the world. Solstizio is a project based on artistic interventions in which the new generations take part, and deal with global contemporary themes, such as environment, social conflicts and sustainable economies. The network relies on the collaboration of artists, art curators, intellectuals, architects, sociologists and Universities, Museums, Associations, Foundations, NGOs, Public and Private Institutions.
The main actions of Solstizio are directed to the EU Programs based on innovative artistic projects in support of the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations (Art&earth and We are the Planet). In Solstizio Stampone has realized artistic installations in public spaces with the participation of 30.000 citizens from 10 Countries of the world. Stampone collaborates with various Universities such as the Fine Academy of Urbino (Italy), where he teaches “Tecniche e Tecnologie delle Arti Visive”, IULM University of Milan, the Federico II University of Naples and the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology of Toronto. He elaborates interventions of research and experimentation about art and new media with Alberto Abruzzese and Derrick De Kerckhove. Since 2013 Giuseppe Stampone is associated member of The American Academy of Roma, and in the same year he was invited to a residency in the Young Eun Museum of Contemporary Art (YMCA) of Gwangju in South Korea. Since 2017 he is an associated member of Civitella Ranieri Foundation in New York. In 2011 he won the Maretti Prize.
