Simone Cametti

Simone Cametti was born in Rome, in 1982. He lives and works in Rome.
Cametti studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino and subsequently completed his sculpture studies at the Rome University of Fine Art where, since 2015 he has been teaching Performing Techniques for the Visual Arts.
Simone Cametti’s work is structured with exemplary gestures in order to create a personal reflection on space and time. His performative research is not lost in the aleatory nature of the action, but produces precious testimonies that strongly convey his crystalline personality. The duration evoked in his works echoes the words of Peter Handke for the Gedicht an die Dauer (To duration): «it is my redemption, it lets me go and be».
In 2012 he was resident artist at the MAMM – Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow, Russia, and since 2015 he has been involved in a regeneration project at Dolomiti Contemporanee, in the former ENI village at Borca di Cadore, Belluno.
